The US intends to recognize the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism. In this case, Washington will be able to confiscate Russia's frozen assets and impose even more "hellish sanctions". The answer will be the cessation of Ukraine's existence.
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, warned Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that Congress would put Russia on the so-called list of sponsors of terrorism if the State Department did not do it instead.
Late last month, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee released a resolution to that effect.
To date, the US list of sponsors of terrorism includes:
According to Just Security, such countries are subject to, inter alia:
However, it is not clear to American specialists whether those sanctions will have a great impact on Russia, because Russia already lives under heavy US sanctions.
The terrorist sponsor status could also lead to serious consequences for the assets of the Russian government, the publication noted. The assets that Western banks froze after Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine, total about $300 billion. These assets can be confiscated as Russia will lose foreign sovereign immunity at US courts both for claims and execution of judgments.
"Frozen Russian assets might provide important leverage in any post-war settlement negotiations. They might also be used to compensate Ukrainian victims of Russian aggression or to help rebuild the country," the author of the article in Just Security wrote before concluding the following:
"Secretary of State Blinken should not designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. And the U. S. Congress should not seek to force his hand."
The Nezygar Telegram channel noted earlier that it was the confiscation of frozen Russian assets that may trigger apocalypse in Ukraine — the country will disappear from the world map.
In a commentary for Pravda.Ru, Ilya Belous, an expert of geopolitics, editor of Soft Power project, noted that Washington could implement other tough sanctions, such as, for example:
"As usual, however, any new sanctions will do more harm to Western countries than to Russia,” said Ilya Belous.
According to the expert, it is the Kyiv regime that appears to be a terrorist regime, because Kyiv attacks settlements in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and now in Kherson and in Russia."
Within the framework of the American methodology, "plus is being replaced with minus, black is being repainted into white, and a propaganda campaign is being carried out to make everyone believe that the terrorist here is Russia but not Ukraine.”
Russia's response is to dismantle the Kyiv regime and work with anti-American forces
The answer, according to Ilya Belous, is the daily systematic grinding of the Ukrainian military infrastructure, denazification and a solid foreign policy campaign, just like during the recent summit in Tehran.
"Russia is creating a new pole of influence, bringing together the countries that do not want to submit to the Western system. The Ukrainian regime will soon be dismantled, and European countries will ask for peace, because, most likely, they will face a very severe economic and social crisis. The new leaders, who will appear in Europe, will understand that in order to save the situation, they need to talk to Russia and finally start buying cheap natural gas from it," the expert said.
